Scented geranium (Pelargonium graveolens) is a perennial plant belonging to the Geraniaceae family, known for its intensely aromatic, deeply divided leaves and delicate pink flowers. Its rich botanical fragrance has established it as one of the most distinctive plants used in natural perfumery.
The essential oil is produced through steam distillation of the leaves and flowers and originates from Egypt. It imparts a fresh, floral and green aroma to cosmetic formulations, with soft rosy, botanical and subtly sweet notes. Its elegant aromatic identity gives finished formulations a clean, balanced and refined character.
Geranium essential oil in cosmetic formulations
Egyptian geranium essential oil is a 100% natural and concentrated botanical ingredient.
When incorporated at an appropriate concentration, it can be used as an ingredient in soaps, creams, lotions, balms, body butters, body oils and massage oils, as well as in hair, scalp and beard-care formulations. It gives finished formulations a fresh, floral and delicately rosy aromatic profile.
Ideal combinations with carrier oils and herbal-infused oils
For body and massage oils, it can be combined with sweet almond oil, which provides a gentle and versatile base that allows the floral aroma of geranium to unfold.
In hair, scalp and beard-care formulations, it combines beautifully with jojoba oil or argan oil. For balms, body butters and richer body formulations, it can be paired with calendula-infused oil or rosehip oil, creating formulations with an elegant and refined aromatic character.
Use: The essential oil is intended exclusively for professional use as an aromatic raw material in the preparation of cosmetic formulations. It is not a finished cosmetic product. Do not apply undiluted to the skin and do not ingest. The appropriate incorporation level must be determined by the final manufacturer in accordance with the technical specifications of the raw material and the safety assessment of the finished product.
