The Indian frankincense tree (Boswellia serrata) is an aromatic tree that thrives in the dry, mountainous regions of India. When its trunk is incised, it releases a precious aromatic gum-resin, which naturally hardens upon contact with the air and is distinguished by its characteristic balsamic fragrance.
This essential oil is obtained through steam distillation of the gum-resin of the Indian frankincense tree. It imparts a warm, earthy and woody-balsamic aroma to cosmetic formulations, with subtle citrus notes and gentle camphoraceous nuances. Its deep and refined aromatic signature gives finished formulations a warm, natural and particularly elegant character.
Frankincense essential oil in cosmetic formulations
Frankincense essential oil is a 100% natural, pure, unadulterated and highly concentrated botanical ingredient.
It is used at an appropriate and controlled concentration as an ingredient in the professional manufacture of soaps, creams, lotions, balms, body butters, bath salts, body and massage oils, as well as hair, scalp and beard care products. It gives finished formulations a warm, woody, resinous and subtly citrus-like aromatic profile.
Combinations in professional cosmetic formulations
In body oils and other anhydrous formulations, it may be incorporated at an appropriate concentration into sweet almond oil, jojoba oil or argan oil. These oils act as versatile carrier bases, allowing the rich balsamic aroma of frankincense to unfold.
For soaps, solid balms and richer body formulations, it may be combined with coconut oil or calendula infused oil, creating formulations with a warm, earthy and refined aromatic character, always within the lowest applicable limit established for the specific category of the finished product.
Use: This essential oil is intended exclusively for professional use as an aromatic raw material in the manufacture of cosmetic formulations. It is not a finished cosmetic product. Do not apply undiluted to the skin and do not ingest. The incorporation level must be determined by the final manufacturer according to the lowest applicable limit, the technical data of the raw material and the safety assessment of the finished product.
