Thyme (Thymus serpyllum) is a low-growing evergreen aromatic plant with small leaves and distinctive pink-purple flowers. It grows in sunny, rocky landscapes, where its intense aroma forms an integral part of the region’s natural botanical identity.
This essential oil is produced by steam distillation of the aerial parts of thyme. It imparts an intense, warm and distinctly spicy herbal aroma to cosmetic formulations, with green, earthy and subtly phenolic notes.
Thyme essential oil in cosmetic formulations
Thyme essential oil is a 100% natural and highly concentrated botanical ingredient.
It is used at a strictly controlled concentration as an ingredient in the professional formulation of soaps, cleansing products, balms, creams, lotions, body butters, and hair, scalp and beard care products, exclusively when the specific application and concentration are permitted by the technical documentation and the safety assessment of the finished product.
Combinations in professional cosmetic formulations
In anhydrous cosmetic formulations, it may be incorporated at an appropriate concentration into almond oil or jojoba oil, which provide versatile bases and allow its intense herbal aroma to emerge.
For soaps, solid balms and richer formulations, it may be combined with coconut oil or calendula-infused oil, always within the lowest permitted limit applicable to the specific category of the finished product.
Use: The essential oil is intended exclusively for professional use as an aromatic raw material in the manufacture of cosmetic formulations. It is not a finished cosmetic product. Do not apply undiluted to the skin and do not ingest. The appropriate incorporation level must be determined by the final manufacturer in accordance with the technical documentation of the raw material and the safety assessment of the finished product.
