Juniper (Juniperus communis) is an evergreen conifer closely associated with the mountainous landscapes and wild forests of Europe. Its resilient and aromatic wood is distinguished by its intense, naturally resinous character and distinctive scent, reminiscent of pure forest air.
The essential oil is produced through steam distillation of juniper wood and imparts a dry, woody and fresh aroma to cosmetic formulations, with green, resinous and subtly balsamic notes. Its distinctive aromatic signature gives natural formulations a clean, earthy and dynamic character.
Juniper essential oil in cosmetic formulations
Juniper wood essential oil is a 100% natural and concentrated botanical ingredient.
It is used at an appropriate concentration as an ingredient in the preparation of soaps, creams, lotions, balms, body butters, body and massage oils, as well as hair, scalp and beard care formulations. It gives finished formulations a clean, woody and resinous aromatic profile inspired by the natural scent of the forest.
Ideal combinations with carrier oils and botanical-infused oils
For body and massage oils, it can be combined with sweet almond oil, which provides a gentle and versatile base, allowing the forest-like aroma of juniper to take centre stage.
In hair, scalp and beard care formulations, it combines beautifully with jojoba oil, argan oil or nettle-infused oil. For soaps, solid balms and richer body formulations, it can be paired with coconut oil or calendula-infused oil, creating formulations with an earthy and refined aromatic character.
Use: The essential oil is intended exclusively for professional use as an aromatic raw material in the preparation of cosmetic formulations. It is not a finished cosmetic product. Do not apply undiluted to the skin and do not ingest. The appropriate incorporation level must be determined by the final manufacturer in accordance with the technical specifications of the raw material and the safety assessment of the finished product.
