Bay laurel (Laurus nobilis) is an aromatic evergreen plant deeply rooted in Mediterranean nature and Greek tradition. Since antiquity, it has been associated with the god Apollo, while laurel wreaths became enduring symbols of victory, honour and distinction.
The essential oil is obtained through the steam distillation of bay laurel leaves and imparts a warm, green and spicy aroma to cosmetic formulations, with subtle camphoraceous, woody and clove-like notes. Its commanding aromatic signature gives finished formulations a clean, earthy and refined Mediterranean character.
Bay laurel leaf essential oil in cosmetic formulations
Bay laurel leaf essential oil is a 100% natural and concentrated botanical ingredient.
It is used at an appropriately determined concentration as an ingredient in the professional formulation of soaps, creams, lotions, balms, body butters and other body-care products, as well as hair, scalp and beard-care formulations. It imparts a rich, green, spicy and subtly camphoraceous aromatic profile to finished formulations.
Combinations in professional cosmetic formulations
As part of properly designed cosmetic formulations, it may be incorporated into bases containing sweet almond oil, jojoba oil or argan oil. In soaps, solid balms and richer body-care formulations, it may be combined with coconut oil or calendula-infused oil, giving the finished formulation an intense and refined Mediterranean character.
Use: The essential oil is intended exclusively for professional use as an aromatic raw material in the preparation of cosmetic formulations. It is not a finished cosmetic product. Do not apply undiluted to the skin and do not ingest. The appropriate incorporation level must be determined by the final manufacturer in accordance with the technical specifications of the raw material, the applicable restrictions, the permitted levels of use and the safety assessment of the finished product.
