The camphor tree (Cinnamomum camphora) is an evergreen aromatic tree belonging to the Lauraceae family and native to East Asia. Its essential-oil-rich leaves are distinguished by their powerful, refreshing and instantly recognisable fragrance.
This essential oil, also known as Ravintsara Oil, is obtained through steam distillation of the camphor tree leaves. It imparts an intense, fresh and balsamic aroma to cosmetic formulations, with distinctive camphoraceous, eucalyptus-like and subtly spicy notes. Its clean aromatic signature gives finished formulations a refreshing, dynamic and distinctive character.
Camphor essential oil in cosmetic formulations
Camphor leaf essential oil is a 100% natural, pure, unadulterated and highly concentrated botanical ingredient.
It is used at an appropriate and strictly controlled concentration as an ingredient in the professional manufacture of soaps, cleansing products, balms, creams, lotions, body butters, body and massage oils, as well as hair, scalp and beard care products. It gives finished formulations a clean, refreshing and characteristically camphoraceous aromatic profile.
Combinations in professional cosmetic formulations
In body oils and other anhydrous formulations, it may be incorporated at an appropriate concentration into sweet almond oil or jojoba oil. These versatile carrier oils allow its distinctive aroma to unfold.
For soaps, solid balms and richer body formulations, it may be combined with coconut oil or calendula infused oil, always within the lowest applicable limit established for the specific category of the finished product.
Use: This essential oil is intended exclusively for professional use as an aromatic raw material in the manufacture of cosmetic formulations. It is not a finished cosmetic product. Do not apply undiluted to the skin and do not ingest. The incorporation level must be determined by the final manufacturer according to the lowest applicable limit, the technical data of the raw material and the safety assessment of the finished product.
