Thuja (Thuja orientalis) is an evergreen coniferous plant with dense green foliage, slender aromatic twigs and distinctive small cones. This particular essential oil is of Austrian origin and is produced through the steam distillation of the plant’s twigs and cones.
It imparts an intense, green and characteristically woody-resinous aroma to cosmetic formulations, with clean and subtly camphoraceous nuances. Its distinctive aromatic signature gives finished formulations a deep, earthy and dynamic character.
Thuja essential oil in cosmetic formulations
Thuja essential oil is a 100% natural and highly concentrated botanical ingredient.
It is used at a strictly controlled concentration as an ingredient in the professional preparation of soaps, cleansing products, balms, creams, lotions, body butters and hair, scalp and beard care products, provided that the specific application and concentration are permitted by the technical specifications and the safety assessment of the finished product.
Combinations in professional cosmetic formulations
In body oils and other anhydrous formulations, it can be incorporated at an appropriate concentration into sweet almond oil or jojoba oil. These versatile carrier oils allow the characteristic aroma of thuja to stand out.
For soaps, solid balms and richer formulations, it can be combined with coconut oil or calendula-infused oil, always within the lowest permitted limit applicable to the specific category of the finished product.
Use: This essential oil is intended exclusively for professional use as an aromatic raw material in the preparation of cosmetic formulations. It is not a finished cosmetic product. Do not apply undiluted to the skin and do not ingest. The incorporation level must be determined by the final manufacturer in accordance with the lowest applicable limit, the technical specifications of the raw material and the safety assessment of the finished product.
