Ginger (Zingiber officinale) is a perennial aromatic plant with a long-standing presence in Asian botanical tradition. Beneath the soil, it develops its characteristic fleshy rhizome, distinguished by its warm, spicy and intensely aromatic character.
The essential oil is produced by steam distillation of the ginger rhizome. It imparts a warm, spicy and characteristically woody aroma to cosmetic formulations, with earthy, fresh and subtly balsamic notes. Its dynamic aromatic signature gives finished formulations a rich, exotic and particularly refined character.
Ginger essential oil in cosmetic formulations
Ginger essential oil is a natural and highly concentrated botanical ingredient.
It is used at an appropriate and controlled concentration as an ingredient in the professional preparation of soaps, creams, lotions, balms, body butters and body and massage oils, as well as hair, scalp and beard care products. It gives finished formulations a warm, spicy, woody and characteristically earthy aromatic profile.
Combinations in professional cosmetic formulations
In body oils and other anhydrous formulations, it may be incorporated at an appropriate concentration into sweet almond oil or jojoba oil. These oils provide versatile bases that allow the warm and spicy aroma of ginger to unfold.
For soaps, solid balms and richer body formulations, it may be combined with coconut oil or calendula-infused oil, creating formulations with a rich, earthy and refined aromatic character, always within the lowest applicable limit for the specific category of finished product.
Use: The essential oil is intended exclusively for professional use as an aromatic raw material in the preparation of cosmetic formulations. It is not a finished cosmetic product. Do not apply undiluted to the skin and do not ingest. The incorporation rate must be determined by the final manufacturer in accordance with the lowest applicable limit, the technical documentation of the raw material and the safety assessment of the finished product.
